Yes, it should work on your ’98 5.4L F‑150 as long as it truly has a 4R100 in it—the bypass setup on the side of the case is the same design.
This kit simply replaces the external bypass tube/valve and banjo bolts so fluid is forced through the cooler 100% of the time; it doesn’t care whether the transmission is behind a gas or diesel engine.
